POWERMAN NEWS

PowerKids and Zofingen 5000 will kick off the Powerman weekend

On Saturday 5 September 2026, Zofingen will belong to young athletes and runners alike. With the PowerKids races and the Zofingen 5000, Powerman Saturday offers a varied programme for the whole family – and the perfect way to get in the mood for the big duathlon Sunday.

By the time the world’s best duathletes are competing for World Championship medals on Sunday, with the open long- and short-distance races and the short-distance relay on the programme, plenty will already have happened in Zofingen. That’s because the Powerman weekend begins on Saturday with a varied day of sport for the whole family.

PowerKids: Get a taste of duathlon and run through the Powerman Arena
Saturday is all about the next generation. In the PowerKids races, children of all ages can get their first taste of competition and discover the versatile sport of duathlon. The focus is on the fun of being active, the shared experience and the joy of sport.

The youngest participants will compete in their respective age categories. Families can also take part together in the PowerKids Family category – one parent alongside one child.

The route along General-Guisan-Straße makes the races particularly spectator-friendly. Parents, grandparents and friends can follow the action practically along the entire route and cheer the young athletes on loudly. This creates a real competitive atmosphere for the children. The highlight comes at the end: the young athletes run through the finish arch in the Powerman Arena – the very same arch through which the world’s best will cross the finish line on Sunday.

Refreshments are provided by volunteers. After the races, the prize-giving ceremony takes place on the very same podium where the new duathlon world champions will be honoured on Sunday. A varied programme of events, including the Duathlon Expo, also ensures that Saturday at the event venue is an experience for the whole family.

Zofingen 5000: Five kilometres, zero metres of elevation gain, high pace
Following the junior races, it’s time for the open race: the Zofingen 5000 consists of five laps of 1,000 metres each along Zofingen’s town centre.

The route for the town run on General-Guisan-Straße is flat, fast and entirely tarmacked. No elevation gain and a firm surface offer ideal conditions for giving it your all over five kilometres and perhaps even setting a new personal best.

The Zofingen 5000 isn’t just for ambitious runners. The route, with spectator areas on both sides of the beautiful avenue, is suitable for all levels. For some, it’s about setting a new personal best; for others, it’s the challenge of running five kilometres; and for many, it’s simply about the joy of taking part in sport together.

So, even on the day before the World Championships, there’s something for everyone in Zofingen – from athletes to families! Register now to take part: [REGISTRATION]. Registration is also open for all races on Sunday (registration for the World Championships is only possible until 31 July). We look forward to seeing you there!
