Helping people to help themselves
The Nadikia Charity Foundation is a tax-exempt association founded and managed by Robert Frösch Jr, Powerman course director from 1989 to 2000, Bruno Imfeld, Powerman vice-president from 1989 to 2000, and Bruno Hostettler, gymnastics and sports teacher at the cantonal school from 1971 to 2011. The association supports the small but effective Ugandan NGO of the same name, which provides disadvantaged young people on the outskirts of Kampala, a city of over a million inhabitants, with education and daily structures. The aid organization was founded by Zayina Nanfuka, a mother of four, whose studies in social sciences at the University of Kampala were financed years ago by Robert Frösch Jr. and other donors from the region. A small team supports Zayina in her daily work, which covers the following areas: Hunger relief, elementary education, vocational training, health prevention, social counseling. Over 300 orphans and disadvantaged young people are currently being looked after. The long-term goal is to build and operate a school for specialized education. The NGO’s exemplary commitment also helps to reduce emigration to Europe and give young people a promising future in their own country.
